Colour Vision: Cortical Circuitry for Appearance

نویسنده

  • Brian Wandell
چکیده

Directly stimulating certain cortical neurons can produce a color sensation; a case is reported in which the color perceived by stimulation is the same as the color that most effectively excites the cortical circuitry.

A Comparison between CIECAM97s and its Revised Colour Appearance Models for Apearance Attributes of Fabrics

: The CIECAM97s and its revision, as a colour appearance model, were applied for a series of fabrics with different colours and depths to explain their colour appearance coordinates in similar viewing conditions. The results show that due to some modifications which expand the scale, the modified model has improved capadilities in calculating chroma. Besides, the calculations were simpler for t...

A low level vision hierarchy based on an irregularly sampled retina

Biological vision systems process signals extracted by a retina that reduces the dimensionality of visual information for processing by higher cortical areas. To date researchers in machine vision have not reported computing a biologically inspired artificial retina that can sample visual information without over-sampling the central foveal region or creating discontinuities in the retinal tess...

Human Colour Vision: 2. Colour Appearance and Cortical Transformations

Four terms (red, green, yellow, and blue) are necessary and sufficient to describe the appearance of hue. Parvo cells of the LGN respond maximally to modulation along either an S-(L+M) or an L-M axis, but few cells are tuned to intermediate directions. These axes do not correspond to the colour appearance axes. Colour appearance requires at least one more stage of processing, a stage that trans...

CIE Colorimetry and Colour Displays

CIE colorimetry was standardised 65 years ago to describe colorimetric properties of signal lights. The first real application of CIE colorimetry occurred, however, in the textile and coating industries to describe colour matches between sample and reference. Thus also the experiments conducted to achieve a uniform colour scale diagram were performed by using material samples usually illuminate...
